Overview
Don’t confuse the DJI Flip Drone for a toy. This pint-sized powerhouse might be small, but it packs a powerful punch when it comes to aerial content creation. Physically, the Flip is a folding quadcopter that transforms like no other. Each arm, motor, propeller, and propeller guard is one piece, with each of the four twisting and folding underneath the Flip for ultimate portability. When unfolded, the Flip can take off from your palm without requiring a remote, although an RC 2 controller is included. Once aloft, the high-end camera system can capture 4K60 horizontal video, 2.7K vertical video, and 48MP stills, taking advantage of a wide range of intelligent flight modes for professional-quality results.
Â
Â
Versatile Visuals
Featuring a 1/1.3″ CMOS sensor, the camera system of the DJI Flip can record videos at 4K60 resolution with HDR and high-resolution 48MP still images, but that’s just the beginning. Integrated versatility within the system offers flexibility based on the kind of content you’re trying to create. Whether you’re capturing the majesty of nature or the skill of an athlete, you can admire the details of fast-paced action with 100 fps slow-motion video in Full HD 1080p.
Â
If you’re after clips ready-made for social media, switch to a 4:3 vertical mode capable of 2.7K quality content. For those that want to maximize quality, utilize 10-bit D-Log M color mode to retain highlights and shadow detail, giving you more post-flight editing flexibility.
Â
Intelligent Flight
- FocusTrack: This mode consists of Spotlight 2.0, Point of Interest 3.0, and ActiveTrack 4.0. Each mode tracks a subject while filming. Spotlight always faces the subject while letting you manually fly around it. Point of Interest flies around a set radius and flight speed. ActiveTrack follows a moving person at a specific distance and altitude.
- MasterShots: Select your subject, and Flip will fly a preset flight route, automatically taking several aerial shots. These shots can then be edited into a final cinematic composition with effects and music.
- QuickShots: Press the mode button on the Flip to select which mode you want, and Flip will do the rest, automatically flying the maneuver and recording a short video. You can select from six maneuvers: Dronie, Circle, Rocket, Spotlight, Helix, and Boomerang.
- Hyperlapse: Set a time interval, and Hyperlapse mode will take a certain number of photos at each one, then stitch them together into a video. You can select from four types of Hyperlapse: Free, Circle, Course Lock, and Waypoint. Each horizontal video can be saved at 4K resolution, and vertical videos at 2.7K.
- Panorama: Capture sweeping natural and urban landscapes with 180°, wide angle, vertical, and sphere modes.
- Cruise Control: Just like your car, when you have Flip at a desired speed, activate cruise control to automatically fly and film at that speed for shake-free results compared to manual piloting.
Â
Take Control
You have options when controlling the Flip. Fire up the included RC 2 controller to pilot and view a 1080p live feed on its built-in 5″ display. With the display offering 700 nits of brightness, you can use it with little issue during the day. You can also control the drone with a “Hey Fly” and various spoken flight directions.
Â
Full Stop
Safety comes not only from the integrated propeller guards on the DJI Flip. It’s also outfitted with a 3D infrared sensing system. So, day or night, when piloting the Flip, this forward-facing sensor can detect obstacles and automatically brake to avoid collision.
Fly More Combo
This version of the DJI Flip includes everything the RC 2 version has, plus the Fly More Combo assortment of accessories. These additional accessories include two additional intelligent flight batteries, two additional pairs of propellers, a shoulder bag, and a parallel charging hub. The extra gear lets you safely transport your Flip when traveling and gives you the power needed to capture more footage.
